"The Princess of Yoga"

Yoga Aktuell Interview
Q

Practicing TriYoga, what is the effect?

A

The effects manifest on all levels including physical, mental, and spiritual. Effects include improved health, increased life energy, mental clarity, intuitive knowledge, and blissful happiness. The practice of TriYoga culminates in higher levels of awareness. Physical benefits include increased flexibility, strength, and balance. Mental benefits include reduced stress, improved focus, and emotional stability. Spiritual benefits include a deeper connection to one's true nature and a sense of purpose and meaning in life.

Q

Why are you called 'The Princess of Yoga'?

A

This title was given to me by practitioners and the media, not by myself. I believe it reflects the grace and beauty of the practice itself, rather than the practitioner. In yoga, we speak of the divine feminine energy – Shakti – that flows through the practice. Perhaps this title honors that energy. But truly, every practitioner who embodies the flow with grace is a princess or prince of yoga. The royal quality is in the practice, not the person.

Q

How did you discover yoga?

A

I did not discover yoga – yoga discovered me. From my earliest memories, I was drawn to quiet reflection and inner exploration. As a child, I would sit in meditation naturally, without being taught. At age 24, the kriyavati began – spontaneous yoga movements guided by prana. I realized that yoga had been with me all along, waiting for the right moment to fully reveal itself.

Q

What is kriyavati siddhi?

A

Kriyavati siddhi is the spontaneous flow of yoga kriyas (movements) guided by prana (life force). It is a rare yogic phenomenon where the body moves into asanas, pranayama patterns, and mudras without conscious direction. The intelligence of prana guides the practice. TriYoga emerged through this process – not from my intellectual design but from the wisdom of the life force itself. This is why TriYoga has a particular quality of flow and integration.

Q

What role do the mudras play in TriYoga?

A

Mudras are essential to TriYoga. Over 1,300 hasta mudras (hand gestures) have been revealed through the kriyavati. Each mudra has specific effects on the energy body, influencing the flow of prana and the state of consciousness. The mudras add a dimension to the practice that most yoga styles lack. They seal and direct energy, enhance concentration, and deepen the meditative quality of the flow. In TriYoga, mudras are seamlessly integrated with asana and pranayama.

Q

Is TriYoga suitable for beginners?

A

Absolutely. The Basics level is designed specifically for those new to yoga or to TriYoga. It introduces the fundamental principles – wavelike movements, breath-synchronized movement, and relaxation-in-action – in an accessible way. From Basics, practitioners can progress through the levels at their own pace. Many people find that TriYoga's flowing quality makes it easier to begin than more static yoga styles.

Q

What is the most important quality a yoga teacher should have?

A

Personal practice. A teacher can only take students as far as they have gone themselves. Beyond that, compassion – the ability to meet students where they are without judgment. And humility – recognizing that we are all students on the path, regardless of how long we have practiced. The teacher is not above the student; we are companions on the journey, perhaps just a few steps ahead on certain aspects of the path.

Q

What message do you have for yoga practitioners in Germany?

A

Germany has a strong yoga community, and I have enjoyed teaching there many times. My message is the same everywhere: trust your inner guidance, practice with consistency and devotion, and let the practice reveal its deeper dimensions to you. Don't rush the journey. The goal of yoga is not to achieve impressive postures but to know your true nature. That knowing is available in every moment, in every breath. Let your practice be a joyful exploration, not a striving competition.
