Being in the Flow

By Yogini Kaliji

When the mind is quiet, the breath rhythmical and the body relaxed one can feel the deep connection with our soul consciousness. It is in this connection that we feel the unlimited healing power of the universal life energy.

The practice of yoga brings us into this state of flow – a state where movement, breath, and awareness merge into one continuous stream of consciousness. In TriYoga, we call this experience "Yogaflow" – the union of posture, breath, and focus that creates a meditative dance of energy.

Being in the flow means releasing the constant mental chatter that normally occupies our minds. When we allow ourselves to simply be present with each moment, each breath, each movement, we tap into a deeper wisdom that exists within all of us. This is not something we need to create or achieve – it is our natural state when we remove the obstacles that block it.

The Three Keys to Flow

Quiet Mind: The first key is to still the mind. Through the practice of concentration techniques (dharana), we learn to direct our attention inward, away from the endless stream of thoughts about past and future. When the mind becomes quiet, it becomes like a clear lake that reflects the light of consciousness.

Rhythmical Breath: The breath is the bridge between body and mind. When we consciously regulate our breathing, making it slow, deep, and rhythmical, we calm the nervous system and create the conditions for deeper states of awareness. The breath becomes a vehicle for prana, the life force that animates all living beings.

Relaxed Body: Tension in the body creates tension in the mind. Through the practice of asana with awareness, we systematically release physical tension, allowing energy to flow freely through the body. In TriYoga, we emphasize "relaxation-in-action" – maintaining a state of ease even while engaging in challenging postures.

The Universal Life Energy

When these three elements come together – quiet mind, rhythmical breath, and relaxed body – we open ourselves to the unlimited healing power of the universal life energy. This energy, known as prana in yoga, chi in Chinese traditions, and by many other names across cultures, is the fundamental force that sustains all life.

This healing power is not something external that we need to seek. It is always present, always available. Our practice simply removes the blocks that prevent us from accessing it. As we deepen our connection with our soul consciousness, we naturally align with this healing energy, and it begins to work through us – healing not only ourselves but radiating outward to benefit all beings.

The state of flow is not reserved for special moments on the yoga mat. With practice, we learn to carry this quality of presence into every aspect of our lives. Walking becomes a meditation. Eating becomes a sacred act. Every interaction becomes an opportunity for connection and healing.

This is the promise of yoga – not just flexibility or stress relief, but a complete transformation of our relationship with life itself. When we are truly in the flow, we discover that we are not separate from the universe but an integral part of its endless dance of creation.
