Art & Science of Yogaflow®
Yogaflow® represents the harmonious integration of asana (posture), pranayama (breath), and mudra (gesture) into one continuous, flowing practice. It is both an art form and a precise science, combining creative expression with systematic methodology.
The Art of Yogaflow
As an art, Yogaflow is a creative expression of movement that flows like a dance. Each practitioner brings their unique essence to the practice, interpreting the flows in their own way while maintaining the integrity of the form. The artistic quality emerges naturally when we allow ourselves to be fully present, moving with grace and awareness.
The wavelike movements of the spine, characteristic of TriYoga, create a beautiful, undulating quality to the practice. These movements are not choreographed in a rigid sense but emerge organically from the body's natural intelligence when given the space to express itself.
The Science of Yogaflow
As a science, Yogaflow is built on precise anatomical and energetic principles. Each posture is designed to create specific effects in the body and mind. The sequences are carefully structured to build systematically, preparing the body for more advanced practices while ensuring safety and accessibility.
The integration of breath with movement follows specific ratios and patterns that optimize the flow of prana through the body. These breathing patterns are not arbitrary but are based on ancient yogic wisdom combined with modern understanding of physiology.
The Seven Levels
TriYoga is systematized from Basics through Level 7, providing a clear path of progression for practitioners of all abilities. Each level builds upon the previous one, introducing new postures, breath patterns, and energetic practices while deepening the understanding of foundational elements.
This systematic approach allows practitioners to develop at their own pace, always having clear goals to work toward while honoring their current capacity. The levels correspond to the seven chakras, with each level activating and balancing the corresponding energy center.
Relaxation-in-Action
One of the key principles of Yogaflow is "relaxation-in-action." This means maintaining a state of ease and surrender even while engaging muscles and holding challenging postures. This principle reflects the deeper teaching that we can remain peaceful and centered even in the midst of life's challenges.
Through the practice of relaxation-in-action, we learn to use only the necessary effort for each moment, conserving energy and avoiding the creation of new tension. This efficiency of movement translates into greater ease in all our daily activities.
Meditation-in-Motion
When asana, pranayama, and mudra are fully integrated, the practice becomes a moving meditation. The mind naturally becomes absorbed in the flow, releasing thoughts and entering a state of pure presence. This is the ultimate goal of Yogaflow – not just physical fitness, but the experience of yoga as union with our true nature.
The art and science of Yogaflow are not separate but complementary aspects of the same practice. The science provides the structure and safety; the art provides the soul and expression. Together, they create a practice that is both accessible and profound, suitable for beginners yet endlessly deep for advanced practitioners.
