Memories of Krishna Priya from TriYoga events in Durham, NC

    Jai Guru Devi

I have cherished memories of inviting Krishna Priya to a workshop with Kaliji in Charlotte, NC, in 2006. Her natural grace allowed her to instantly connect with Kaliji and the TriYoga flows. As a seasoned Bhakti yoga practitioner, Krishna Priya deeply valued the spiritual nuances of the practice and drew immense comfort from Kaliji’s wisdom and guidance. The TriYoga flows provided her much-needed relief from physical discomforts, inspiring her to become certified in 2007 to share the benefits with others.

Krishna Priya invested time in Santa Cruz to enrich her practice, and we traveled together to Yogaville during Kaliji’s teachings and to St. Augustine. We also attended annual workshops with Chandra & Nandi in Durham. Though she became increasingly occupied with various services and, since my move from NC in 2012, her TriYoga practice took a backseat, I believe she continued with basic exercises whenever possible, even from bed. Her dedication to serving others remained steadfast, waking up early to fulfill her temple duties.

After a challenging bout with hepatitis B following her return from India, Krishna Priya seemed to grow frailer each year. Our last meeting was in 2024 when she visited Florida, and we enjoyed a lovely japa walk. Our conversations often circled back to TriYoga, and she frequently expressed a strong desire to return to her practice on the mat.

Krishna Priya's recent fall at the temple and resulting injuries sadly contributed to her departure. Her presence in this realm may be missed, but her teachings and devotion will remain in our hearts.

    With love,
    Kiera
