John traveled to Beijing in June for a series of programs. First was two days of open workshops organized and hosted by the group from TYC Beijing (Karuna studio). Held at a lovely yoga studio in the town of Chaoping in the northwest of Beijing, the workshops attracted a mix of local students new to TriYoga, and TriYoga teachers and students from Beijing and cities across China.

Students enjoyed all-levels flows and prana vidya, and many expressed how touched and inspired they were by their TriYoga experience.

The group of TriYoga teachers attending the workshop included members from the local community, Tuo Xia (far left in green) from Lanzhou in Western China, and Shi Xin from Zhenjiang (on the Yangtze River near the major city of Nanjing).

Enya (right), director of the TYC, was the main organizer for the event. Tina (left) traveled to Beijing to translate all programs. Yuan Ming (center) made the Beijing TYC possible through her support and hosted John and Tina at her amazing home. All three are TriYoga teachers!

Yuan Ming’s amazing home is on the edge of the countryside, backed by mountains. The vegan meals were served family–style. It was a unique and special experience for John, who had only experienced group meals in China while at restaurants. The workshops coincided with the popular Dragon Boat Festival holiday, and a memorable feast was served to celebrate. Afterwards, friends and family of Yuan Ming and the TriYoga group enjoyed an evening together at Yuan Ming’s, talking and drinking tea. The children were very interested in the American guest, and looked at pictures of John and Santoshi’s travels with fascination.

The TYC will host Basics, Level 1, and Level 2 teacher trainings with Gina in the autumn.
