From December 29 to January 5, TriYoga family from across the planet gathered in Goa, India for a TriYoga retreat with Kaliji. This year’s retreat was another great success with 44 participants from 14 countries: Australia, Austria, China, Denmark, Germany, India, Italy, Russia, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United States and Uruguay.
Each day featured two sessions of TriYoga sadhana. Kaliji taught all-levels classes in the main room…
Eva-Maria, John and Stephanie taught Basics/Level 1 in the beautiful upstairs room…
and Level 3 was taught next to the pool by John and Stef.
Students enjoyed partner stretch in the warm, tropical weather!
Music was a main feature of the retreat schedule. Tabla maestro Prasann met Kaliji in Goa in 2009 and has been invited to the retreat each year. It is a fantastic experience to immerse into three hours of TriYoga flows accompanied by Prasann’s incredible, rhythmic playing! This year Prasann accompanied Kaliji during chanting and local musicians during three evening concerts.

Naresh Madgaonkar’s phenomenal santur playing during a concert with Prasann was a musical highlight of the retreat.
Vocalist Nilesh Shinde sang beautiful, meditative divine chants.
Chandu (flute) and Vishnu (sitar) had planned to play a modern, fusion concert until they arrived at the retreat center and met Prasann. When they realized they had a fantastic tabla player, their plans changed and a classical concert was performed instead!
Afternoon events included presentations on yoga and medical research by TriYoga’s Dr. G (Dr. Miguel Rivera), a bell class with Prasann’s, an aryuveda lecture, a dance recital, shopping, swimming and enjoying the nearby beach.
Dr. G’s presentations are always a big hit, opening many eyes to the importance of vegan diet, TriYoga sadhana and positive attitude for overall physical, emotional and mental health.
Prasann is a wonderful and entertaining teacher! His lively class taught basic patterns for bell playing and had everyone clapping, laughing and bouncing to the beat. Prasann is Kaliji’s tabla teacher, and also teaches tabla and dholak to many TriYogis.

Programs were held at the Satsanga Retreat Center. The beautiful, peaceful atmosphere at Satsanga provided a wonderful backdrop for the retreat.
Vegan meals served by the Satsanga kitchen were truly outstanding. The friendly Satsanga chef, Mani, is pictured with Kaliji.
