A group of OKIDO yoga teachers and students from Taiwan and Japan visited Kaliji at the Santa Cruz TriYoga Center from August 27 through September 1. Organized by Taiwan OKIDO association secretary Julia, the group’s visit included daily TriYoga classes with Kaliji and senior TriYoga teachers Nandi, John and Stephanie, local sightseeing, and wonderful meals. OKIDO Yoga has twice hosted Kaliji in Taiwan, and many in the group were very excited to see Kaliji again!
The OKIDO group arrived at the start of a weekend TriYogathon with Kaliji, beginning their visit with an immersion into TriYoga Flows and Chant Club. Every day the group attended special programs with KALIJI and additional classes with senior teachers, using every opportunity to learn as much TriYoga as possible.
Taking advantage of the beautiful weather in Santa Cruz, Kaliji and the OKIDO group enjoyed trips into the natural beauty of Santa Cruz.

Taiwan is famous for its plentiful vegetarian restaurants, and the OKIDO group was excited to sample American vegan cooking. Jasmin and Polo hosted the group for three wonderful meals, including time with Kaliji for chanting, philosophy/subtle anatomy, and question and answer.
TriYoga teacher Katya was surprised to learn that in Taiwan, brides serve tea on their wedding guests and receive gifts in return. Julia and the group encouraged Katya to keep practicing for her own wedding!
The generous OKIDO group brought many gifts to Santa Cruz. Kaliji was presented with a stunning crystal lotus flower, given by long time OKDIO teacher Mr. Lin, as well as Taiwan tea and other thoughtful gifts
Kaliji sent many gifts back to Taiwan for dear friends from OKIDO Yoga who could not make the trip to Santa Cruz. Pictured here are past OKIDO president Mrs. Bai and Mr. Lin . Kaliji calls Mrs. Bai and the late Mr. Bai “my Taiwanese mother and father”.
The group’s TriYoga program concluded with a lovely closing ceremony in the TriYoga center.
Tour organizer Julia Lai is pictured here with her certificates from TriYoga and OKIDO Yoga, given to each participant. Julia has helped to organize Kaliji’s trips to Taiwan, and also invited teachers John and Stephanie last year to teach at OKIDO Yoga’s Autumn Conference.
TriYoga teacher Judy Lin provided translation and assistance throughout the trip. Judy first met Kaliji in Taiwan, and has completed over 500 hours of TriYoga teacher training.
Judy remained to study in Santa Cruz for three additional weeks, and enjoyed the beautiful nature spots.
