January 21-31, John & Santoshi started a Basics Teacher Training at the TriYoga Center in TaoYuan, Taiwan. Many of the interns have met Kaliji either on her visits to Taiwan or at the Asia Yoga Conference in Hong Kong. TYC Director (and junior-level teacher training staff member) Julia loves to organize programs for students, teachers and interns.
The week-long training included flowing through all five main series, along with learning basic alignment assistance and modification. Interns will continue to study with Julia, and the D’s will return in June to complete the 150-hour training. TaoYuan is known for its special (and vegan!) peanut candy– Julia presented each intern with a golden peanut filled with this delicious treat.
While in TaoYuan, Santoshi and John also had the opportunity to teach a class for local teacher ShuNü, who just completed her Level 1 Certification.
Their last day in Taiwan, John, Santoshi and Julia traveled to Kao Hsiung in the south of Taiwan to share at TriYoga. Shankari, the studio owner, has invited Julia for several workshops and was glad to deepen her knowledge.
The trip also included a visit with Mr Lin, who shares his lifetime practice of Xiang Gong. The D’s are helping Mr Lin to document the Xiang Gong practice to share with students around the world. Jasmin in Santa Cruz has been sharing the sequences with some of her senior groups, where they enjoy the gentle, energizing movements.
John, Julia and Santoshi enjoy their time together and look forward to their next visit to Taiwan in June!
